Alwin Nikolais Centennial, celebrating 100 years of Nikolais (1910–2010)

22–24 November:  Premiere of Pond by the Second Ave Dance Company at the Tisch School of the Arts, NYC

1–18 December:  Staging of a Nikolais program on Introdans Arnhem, The Netherlands

11–16 & 23–30 January:  Staging of Crucible and Tensile Involvement on students at Muhlenberg University and DeSales University in Center Valley and Allentown, PA

30 January:  Showing of several films of Nikolais as part of Dance on Camera Festival at the Lincoln Center in NYC, curator Joanna Ney, including Nik & Murray and the World of Alwin Nikolais

3 February:  DeSales and Muhlenberg University dance students performing with the Company for the public performance, and a master class, lecture and Q & A, Zoellener Arts Center, Bethlehem, PA

26–28 February:  Premiere of a Nikolais program by Introdans with additional domestic and international touring, Arnhem, The Netherlands

2 March:  Public performance, student matinee, lecture and Q & A, Vilar Performing Arts Center, Beaver Creek, CO

15–20 March:  One week residency at Tulane University in preparation for the staging of a Nikolais work on the University students to be perform with the Ririe Woodbury Dance Company in November , New Orleans, LA

23 & 24 March:   Southern Utah University (SUU) dance students performing with the Company for the public performance; SUU dancers working with the Company during company residencies in K-12 public schools; master classes, lectures and Q & A, Cedar City Music Arts, Cedar City, UT

31 March–5 April:  Performance of Pond by Second Ave Dance Company at Tisch School of the Arts, NYC

28 April:  Teacher’s Workshop taught by Alberto del Saz or former Nikolais company member, Joyce Theatre, NYC

1 & 2 May:  Public performances include ballets created while Nikolais was the artistic director of the Henry Street Playhouse; master classes, lectures and Q & A., Abrons Arts Center/Henry Street Settlement, New York, NY

4–9 May:  Public performances, one young audience performance, Joyce Theatre, NYC

Summer Nikolais workshop in France with Joan, Tito, and the Company

7–19 June:  Summer Intensive at Marymount Manhattan College taught by Alberto del Saz, Peter Kyle, Kim Gibilisco and Phyllis Lamhut, NYC

21 June–9 July:  Three-week Summer Intensive at The Boston Conservatory, Boston, MA

26–30 July:  Staging of Pond in the Chambers Dance Company at University of Washington in Seatlle, WA

1–17 September:  Staging of Gallery at The University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Winston-Salem, NC

20 September–5 November:  Staging of a full evening of Nikolais works at the Boston Conservatory, Boston, MA

3–6 November:  Performance of Nikolais Program at the Boston Conservatory, Boston, MA

October 2010–January 2011:  Nikolais Exhibit at the Lincoln Center Library for the Arts, NY

One week in November 2010: New Orleans Ballet Association (NOBA), New Orleans, LA, commissions a new Nikolais acquisition for the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company which will then be premiered in New Orleans. Residency will include public performance, including Tulane University dance students, orally history lecture, master classes, lectures, Q & A and advanced public lectures by Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities directed by Barbara Haley and the Nikolais/Louis Foundation for Dance

Additional performances in the U.S. and Western Europe to be determined

France and Italy:  Public performances, festivals, master classes and lectures

15–16 April 2011:  “Sharing the Legacy” — Students from around the country are invited to perform at Hunter College for the Nikolais Centennial, NYC. Nikolais ballets will be mounted on dance students from the following Universities:
